New Beginnings – Get Involved

There are numerous opportunities to engage with our community. Whether you want to attend a group, volunteer, or develop your leadership skills, there is a place for you here.

ATTEND A GROUP!

Members and staff offer a wide variety of peer-led support groups such as Morning Check-in, All Recovery, and other recovery-oriented meetings. Individuals can choose to participate at whatever level is right for them. Community Meetings are held once a week to gather input from members and promote peer-led discussion and support.

VOLUNTEER!

Peers are encouraged to become a member by completing the orientation process and filling out a member application. Members may choose to be involved in several ways, including recovery coaching, event planning, community outreach, and peer-led activities. Volunteering allows individuals to give back by helping others and empowers them to create a safe place that supports recovery, promotes wellness, and addresses the needs and interests of the peer recovery support center’s membership.

LEARN LEADERSHIP SKILLS!

New Beginnings offers a 12-week Peer Leadership Development Program to our members, known as STEER, which stands for Succeed, Transition, Experience, Empower & Recover. Interested members of the center go through the process of applying to be considered for this program. Those selected are required to attend our weekly community meetings, complete trainings and shadow full-time staff. A Stipend is also provided on a monthly basis for members serving in this role. For more information on becoming a member and details of this process, please contact Joanna Morillo.
